Abstract: Historical biography of Francesc Macià Ambert, known as Bach de Roda, an Austrian-supporting military figure during the War of Spanish Succession. Gudiol also delves into the political context of the period and the aftermath of the defeat. Bach de Roda is portrayed as a symbol of Catalan resistance. The book includes the popular song dedicated to him, collected by Manuel Milà i Fontanals in his Romancerillo catalán (1882).
