Abstract: Lecture by Francesc Miquel i Badia (1840-1899) read in February 1884 at the Reial Acadèmia de Bones Lletres in Barcelona, in honor of Josep Manjarrés i Bofarull (1816 to 1880). Manjarrés, a lawyer by profession, was Director of the Official School of Fine Arts and Professor of Theory and History of Fine Arts.
